“A muse is a source for inspiration, but rarely is something as common as a humble concrete block considered an artist’s muse. I believe cement can be beautiful, compelling, and demonstrative. I had the idea to represent my mental state of mind on different days of the week, using piles of cement blocks to show this. The painting above illustrates how I feel on Monday. I am standing straight, fortified by a relaxing weekend, ready to take on the challenges of the week. A few residual chinks in my armor are evident, but I am organized and resolute. To see how I fare on a Friday, please click HERE. I hope you agree that a concrete block is a worthy muse.” Nolan Haan
